Criminal Records Check

Everyone has a need to obtain investigative information on someone else at some point in time. A simple criminal records check, asset search, or an all-inclusive background check can make all the difference in personal or business affairs.

I am a court reporter by day, part-time collector of small claims judgments for others by night. Having used all of the online investigative public record databases publically available, let me set the record straight: MOST ARE UTTERLY WORTHLESS!

After spending hundreds of dollars on services that just didn’t deliver as advertised, it became clear that very few publicly available free background check database services use up-to-date information for their search services. The top performers purchase current criminal, civil, marriage, divorce, property, and dmv records directly from each state’s repositories, and are updated each month. The worst performers appeared to offer only old, out-of-date information to their subscribers.

Curious as to the accuracy of the most popular online database sources, I compared the top three using five (5) recent subjects in the areas of criminal records, address lookups, civil judgements, and dmv infractions. The top performers are listed at right.

In summary, I don’t think that you can go wrong with any of these three sources. They all provide very high quality search results that will save you countless hours of manually searching on your own. Please bookmark this page as I will continue to monitor and update these findings on a regular basis.
